Ingredients

3 Cupfuls of dried apples
3 cups of molasses
3 cups of flour
3 eggs
1 cup of butter
1 teaspoonful soda
1 cupful of seedless raisins - optional
Add spices as desired

Soak dried apples over night in cold water enough to swell them.

Chop them up in the morning and put them in a pan over low heat with the three cups of molasses. Stew until almost soft then add a cupful of nice seedless raisins and stew a few more moments. Let cool.

When cold, add three cupfuls of flour, one cup of butter, three eggs and a teaspoonful of soda. Mix into a smooth batter. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Poor batter into buttered baking pan.

Bake for one hour or until golden brown. The apples will cook like citron and taste delicious. Raisins may be omitted; also spices ( nutmeg, cinnamon, etc.) may be added to taste.
